Varvara Russkova comes from entrepreneurship - she is a former co-founder of the CardioWave medical device which was acquired to launch a postgraduate medical university for the European Medical Center. Previously she was a venture partner at GVA Capital - a San Francisco-based fund, as well as an investment director of the Arici family office. Varvara is an expert in business development and mentor to MassChallengeTechstarsTexas Medical Center X, and other incubators and accelerators in the USA as well as an advisor to Medical Technology and Biotechnology companies.

Varvara is a co-founder of 2 startups, has been launching startups in the United States for 10 years, and has 5 years of experience working in venture investments. 

Currently, Varvara is also an investor herself - she's investing in AI, health tech, and biotech. She's passionate about shifting healthcare from sick care to actual health care and wellness, with the tech that is predictive, preventative, personalized, and precise.

What will you do?

  • You will do a lot of organizing: schedule and organize meetings with potential partners of Varvara, track them in the calendar and remind her of these meetings. In addition, Varvara may ask to schedule personal tasks, such as getting a manicure at a beauty salon or visiting a spa, etc.

  • Manage Varvara's calendar: keep track of upcoming events in the calendar and remind her about them.

  • Conduct research: for example, before a meeting with a specific person or company, you will need to prepare a memo about them (this includes searching for contacts, interesting facts, competitors, financial figures, etc.). In addition, she may ask you to find some information about certain medical devices and how they work, etc.

  • Travel support: usually Varvara does it herself, but she may need your help with booking tickets, renting cars, searching for beauty salons or spas in various cities of the United States. If there are unexpected cancellations or postponements of trips, you would need to cancel all sorts of reservations. 

  • Other possible tasks may include:

    - submit the documents to the US Internal Revenue Service;
    - manage the designers and PR departments of her projects, possibly helping them with some tasks;
    - outreach tasks: communicate with scientists and leading experts from the field of medicine and science via email or social media on behalf of Varvara.
    - any other tasks depending on the situation.

  • Excellent written & spoken English skills - you may communicate with Varvara in Russian (even though she prefers English), but we want you to be able to communicate to American people when the need arises (i.e. if Varvara asks you to text her partners or call a spa and cancel the reservation, etc.). Overall, if you become her right hand, you will be dealing with a lot of investors, scientists, partners, etc. 

  • Strong interest in preventive medicine, since your work will be related to this field. Besides, in the nearest future, Varvara is planning to start a couple of projects in the field of health tech, and she might need your help there as well.

  • Strong self-reliance and the ability to create solutions and make decisions on your own with the minimum required confirmations. Remember - you actually need to be a “manager” for your manager.

  • Proactiveness and strong willingness to help Varvara to organize her business & personal tasks - we expect you to be a person with a lot of initiative and many ideas, not just an executor. 

  • Organizational skills: you know exactly how to organize not only your work and personal time and don't want any minute to go to waste, but you are a super natural organizer who can bring the chaotic life of another person to an ideal structure.

  • Excellent attention to detail – you should be the person who cares about every small detail and the one who checks for mistakes of others.

  • Desire to develop, grow and learn from an experienced professional. 

  • Ability to adjust to PST time-zone - that means we expect you to be able to work with Varvara during her working hours (19:00 - 23:00 MSK) to discuss tasks and coordinate all the processes.


Условия

  • Part-time employment (4 hours per day, 5/2) with an opportunity to upgrade to full-time once there are more tasks to manage. Please note that we support your desire to combine this job with studies, however, we will not consider candidates planning to combine several jobs. Also, please keep in mind that in 2-3 months you may switch to full-time, which means no opportunity to combine with studies starting from that moment.

  • Remote work. You may be located in any country or city, just need a good Internet connection and the opportunity to adjust your working schedule to have overlapping hours with Varvara.
