Step Ahead Capital is a venture capital firm investing in growth-stage technology companies. Their prior investments include Robinhood, Carta, GitLab, Thoughtspot, Chainalysis, Protocol Labs, and others. Their target investment is $15-25M, which they accumulate by providing portfolio companies with growth capital and creating liquidity opportunities for their founders, employees, and other early shareholders. Step Ahead Capital is based in Menlo Park, California, and was founded by established legal, finance, and compliance professionals with deep roots in the digital economy.


The firm structures and executes compliant token generation, advises on blockchain business models and tokenization strategies and develops white papers and financial models. The firm also recruits advisory boards and strategic partners and advises in mergers and acquisitions and corporate development transactions.


Some information about the founders:

  • Rostislav Shorgin - Stanford graduate (top 10% of the class) majoring in Business Administration and the first founder of Step Ahead Capital. A business leader with a strong entrepreneurial, technology profile, and more than 10 years of experience in the technology business. Rostislav was a Product Marketing Director at Yandex (2009-2014) and led international teams defining product and marketing strategies in various markets.

  • Julian Zegelman is the second founder of the perpetual Fund. Even though Julian is a graduate of the University of San Diego with a degree in Biochemistry, as well as the University of Minnesota Law school, Julian is well versed in investment issues. Previously he served as a Founding Partner at TMT Investments Fund II, a $100M Series A focused VC fund. He's interested in investing in SaaS, AI, digital health, enterprise software, and cloud.



Now, the founders of the company are looking for a Junior Business Development & Automation Specialist - smart and high energy person to join the team and help it grow. This person will work directly with the firm's Managing Partners on daily operations. This role is essential to the company’s capital formation efforts.  


What will you do? 


  • Growing the investors’ database - you will be looking for potential investors on different sources such as LinkedIn, for example. For that, you have to understand the services of the company. 

  • Creating and sending out catchy & creative emails and follow ups - trying to interest the investor in what Step Ahead Capital does and schedule a call with the founder.

  • Communicating with potential clients through email and/or LinkedIn messages and proposing the services of the company. 

  • Maintaining the statistics of the sales funnel - you will need to come up with an effective metrics system, systemize the channels of investors’ acquisition, track the progress, and create reports on which of them work better than others and attract more leads. 

  • Working in the CRM systems (Pipedrive & Klenty) and developing the structure in them. Right now, there are thousands of cards of potential investors stored in chaos. You will need to structure, segment those cards, label, keep track of them, update their statuses, etc.

Requirements: 


  • English writing skills - you will be creating emails in English and communicating with potential investors from the US, so we expect a minimum of an Advanced level of English, and we do not want to see any mistakes. 

  • Previous experience with CRM systems - we expect you to understand how they work, and have basic knowledge of marketing automation. The founders will not be spending time explaining anything, you’ll need to jump in and manage Pipedrive & Klenty on your own from the very beginning.

  • Be a proactive team player who's not afraid to speak up your own opinion - seriously, the company is looking for a person with many ideas, not just an executor. Moreover, there will be no micro-management, so you need to be a seft-driver who comes up with new tasks and solves them independently.

  • Organizing skills: you know exactly how to organize your work and personal time and don't want any minute to go to waste. Furthermore, you LOVE systemizing things and are not afraid to put thousands of different clients’ profiles into the logical order.

  • Strong self-reliance and the ability to create solutions and make decisions on your own with the minimum required confirmations.

  • Excellent attention to detail – you are used to double-checking everything and can quickly notice the slightest mistake.

  • Be a quick learner - it's impossible to know everything, we get it, but we want you to be ready to dive into processes you’ve never faced before and be ready to learn some software or programs that you've never used.

  • Ability to adjust to the PST time-zone - that means you’ll need to work from 16:00 to midnight (Moscow time) and be ready to sometimes start and finish even later. If you are an “owl” who loves sleeping till noon and working late - that’s the job for you.
